Clevis pins are used to secure a clevis to a load by slotting through the holes on the prongs of the clevis. It is then secured by a cotter pin. They are used on hitches and other frequently assembled and disassembled parts and also to replace bolts or rivets. Clevis pins are handy as a “quick-release” cotter pin substitute.
